Hi, I’m Clara! I’m a pianist, piano teacher, and improviser. I have played at Mount Pleasant Elementary, and Renfrew Elementary. I love creating grooves, musical colors, and a little bit of musical magic with children’s choirs. I love watching sway, dance, and move with my playing. And even wander right up to the piano and ask, “What are you doing there?”
When I’m not making music with choirs, I teach piano from my private studio and perform around town. I’m also active in Vancouver’s jazz scene with my band the Clara Lin Trio and the Swimming Elephant, where I spend a lot of time improvising. That’s probably why I enjoy working with kids so much – they are the best improvisers I know, Never fail to surprise me!
I learn as much from kids as they learn from me, and I look forward to making more music together!
