Growing up in church choirs, Chu has a deep interest in sacred music. She has sung and conducted in HKSKH Holy Spirit Church (Hong Kong) and St. James Anglican Church (Vancouver). She was awarded the Cecilia Kwok Church Music Scholarship from HKSKH St. John’s Cathedral in 2023 and 2024 to support her further studies. Since 2022, Chu has been the conducting scholar for Vox Antiqua, a Hong Kong Catholic choir, showcasing her commitment to diverse music ministries.
Last year, Sharon co-founded the Vancouver Cantonese Choir and is one of the conductor at the choir. She is also the conductor of the Vancouver Xiaoping Chorus and a singer with the Phoenix Chamber Choir while leading the Laura Secord Junior Choir at VEMS, continuing her active engagement in both leadership and performance within the choral community.””Sharon Chu is a choral conductor from Hong Kong. She received her Master of Music in Choral Conducting in 2025 and Bachelor of Arts in Music and Psychology in 2023, both from the University of British Columbia. Chu studied under the coaching of Dr. Hyejung Jun and Dr. Graeme Langager, and has participated in workshops with many internationally renowned conductors, including William Weinert, Gábor Hollerung, Theodora Pavlovitch, TJ Harper, Deanna Joseph, Daniel Bara, and Yunn-Shan Ma.
